EasyCatalog CS2 2.1.1 Now Available
The latest version of EasyCatalog CS2 2.1.1 for Adobe InDesign CS2 is now available from our download page.

Upgrading from EasyCatalog 2.0.3
|

The format of the EasyCatalog workspace folder has changed: workspaces created using 2.0.3 will be upgraded to the 2.1 format. As such, once your workspace folder has been converted to the new format it will not open in version 2.0.3.
Due to the addition of additional attributes, documents created or edited using version 2.1 or later of EasyCatalog will not open on machines with EasyCatalog 2.0.3 is loaded.
As with any software upgrade, backup your EasyCatalog Workspace folder and documents prior to installing the latest version.

EasyCatalog CS2 2.1.1 for InDesign CS2
New Features:
EasyCatalog
- Added new 'Record Viewer' panel.
The new Record Viewer panel offers an alternative way of viewing your data in EasyCatalog. This new panel shows a single record, and offers simple filtering options to quickly find your data.
The Record Viewer panel can also be used to show the fields in the current document selection.
- Workspace folder now defaults to user's Documents folder (Macintosh) or My Documents folder (Windows).
- Data sources can now be deleted permanently using the 'Delete' button on the 'Information' dialog.
- Replacement Image and Image Folder locations in Picture Panel are now edit boxes, allowing the paths to be entered manually or cleared.
- Added 'Reveal' buttons to show relevant files/folders in the Finder (Macintosh) or Windows Explorer (Windows). Reveal buttons added for 'Workspace Folder', 'Image Folder', 'Replacement Image', 'Pagination Library'.
- The search/filter dialog now supports the use of regular expressions
- Regular expressions can now be used as part of cleansing statements
- Added dialog directing unregistered users to the Quick Start Guide. This dialog can be disabled using the 'Dont show again' check-box.
Bug Fixes:
EasyCatalog
- Field replacement and adoption fixed - previous version would not replace/adopt if the content of the new field matched the content of the old field.
- EasyCatalog registration dialog no longer appears over the top of InDesign's Welcome dialog during startup.
- Any functions that open a web-page in the default browser should now work correctly when Firefox or Opera are set as the default browser (Windows only).

EasyCatalog
- Added new table attributes:
- Cells can now be merged vertically or horizontally when content matches exactly.
- Columns can now be deleted when completely empty. Other columns in the table can be resized to fill the space of the deleted column(s).
- Group header and footer rows can now be included in the table.
- Field options are now stored as an XML file in the workspace folder to allow for editing outside of EasyCatalog.
- Default panel view (such as sorting, grouping, etc) can now be configured which will be applied to new panels created for the data source.
- Added 'Proportionally Fill' picture scaling option: pictures can now be scaled proportionally to completely fill the frame, ensuring no white-space remains.
- Added 'Ignore White Space Changes' alphanumeric field option to allow minor (white space-only changes) to be made to fields on the document without them being shown as 'in error' during synchronize operations.
- New 'Update Panel' menu option: the page number each record is on can now be updated to a field in the panel.
- New menu on the book panel to allow update page numbers for all documents in the book.
- Formatted text content can now be imported and converted into InDesign style sheets.
- New option on 'Subset' dialog ('Show Entire Group'). All records in a group will be shown if one of them matches the criteria configured.
Pagination Module
- New attributes are available on the 'Pagination Rules' panel:
- Prevent Breaking - if a product style breaks across pages, columns or frames a new page, column or frame-break character will be inserted to prevent the product-style breaking.
- Force Break - automatically insert a page, frame or column-break character before inserting the Product Style (if required).
File Data Provider
- Removes completely empty columns from imported file.
ODBC Data Provider Module
- Added encoding popup to switch between Unicode/UTF-8/Windows Latin 1 encoding.
- Added support for UTF-8 data on Windows.
Bug Fixes
EasyCatalog
- Fixes bug when picture box is set to resize vertically - previously, box would move position and scale the picutre contents disproportionately.
- 'About EasyCatalog' dialog no longer displayed unnecessarily. Previous version would sometimes display the dialog during boot-up if an expired module had been removed from the plug-ins folder.
- Non-empty graphic frames can now be tagged with Field Specifiers.
- Fixed scroll-bar problems when data table is very wide (contains a lot of fields) or very deep (contains a lot of records).
- Fixed cleansing option metacharacters: ^r is now the registered trademark symbol (R) not the trademark (TM) symbol.
- Duplicate check now functions correctly when multiple records share the same key.
- Removal of illegal characters in field names corrected.
- When selecting 'Update Document' from the panel's menu, only fields for that data source will be updated on the document.
- Fixes bug in product activation. If a serial number with an invalid format was entered, this serial number would be saved against the product even though activation failed.
- Population of Field Specifiers and fields now works with text-on-a-path.
- Now processes furniture items correctly when master pages are based on other masters.
Pagination Module
- Fixes bug where unnecessary page breaks were being inserted during pagination.
- Fixed progress bar to better represent the number of Product Styles being paginated.
File Data Provider
- There is now a limit of 1000 fields per record. This helps to speed-up the initial import of the file when determing field and record separators.
