Common Activation Errors

General information on activating EasyCatalog can be found in this support document.

The serial number entered is for a product that has already been activated.

The serial number you have entered is already being used on this machine – if you take a look in the “About EasyCatalog” dialog you should see the serial number you entered shown.

A common cause of this error is users entering the same serial number multiple times in an attempt to activate the other modules showing as unregistered to prevent the “About EasyCatalog” dialog from appearing during startup.ย  You should re-run the installer and ensure that you only select the modules you have license codes for.ย  The installer can be downloaded from our web site here.

An attempt was made to activate an unknown serial number

The serial number has not been entered correctly.ย  Please re-check the order confirmation email you received and copy and paste the serial number into the activation dialog.ย  Note that for security reasons, the “About EasyCatalog” dialog does not show the full serial number so please check the order confirmation email for the complete serial number.

An attempt was made to activate a blacklisted serial number

The serial number you are attempting to activate has been blacklisted to prevent it from activating.ย  This can happen sometimes when the serial number was issued in error, so please check to see if you were sent an alternative number to use.ย  Please contact us if you are unsure why the serial number will not activate and we will investigate further.

An activation attempt failed due to the maximum number of allowable activations being met

The serial number you are attempting to activate has already been activated on the permitted number of machines. If you are attempting to activate on a new machine and still have access to the old machine, please use the “Deactivate” button on the “About EasyCatalog” dialog to release its activation.ย  You should then be able to activate on your new machine.

If you no longer have access to the old machine, please contact us and we can reset the serial number for you.

Further information on moving EasyCatalog to a new machine can be found here.

Your license has now expired

Some serial numbers are only valid for a specific period of time, and the serial number you’re attempting to activate has now expired.ย  Please contact your license vendor for further information on how to renew your license.

The serial number entered is not valid for this version of EasyCatalog

When purchasing a license for EasyCatalog and its modules, it is valid for a specific version of InDesign (for example, InDesign 2021).ย  New licenses receive twelve months complimentary software maintenance, during which time upgrades to newer versions of InDesign are free of charge.ย  Upgrade purchases receive six months complimentary maintenance. If you are inside of this maintenance window, or have separately purchased software maintenance from us, please contact us with your serial number(s) and we’ll investigate further.

If you need to upgrade your license, please visit our web store here.

The activation server couldn’t be reached, possibly because a proxy server or firewall is preventing access. Do you want to view the server’s response?

When attempting to reach our activation server, it appears that EasyCatalog received a web page instead of its expected response.ย  Typically, this is caused by a proxy server or firewall returning a ‘Page not authorized’ web page and preventing EasyCatalog from activating.ย  Please ensure that you are connected to the internet and InDesign is able to connect to 65bit.co.uk on SSL port 443. If you are unable to allow this access, please close the error dialog and you will be offered the opportunity to activate offline using our web site.ย  Further information on offline activation can be found here.

An error occurred while communicating with the activation server

EasyCatalog was unable to verify your serial number by contacting our activation server. Please ensure that there is not firewall or proxy server that is preventing access to 65bit.co.uk on SSL port 443.ย  If you are unable to allow this access, please close the error dialog and you will be offered the opportunity to activate offline using our web site.ย  Further information on offline activation can be found here.

The Offline Activation file is too old

For security reasons, the offline activation file you generate is only valid for a short period of time.ย  If you receive this message, please activate again using the Offline Activation dialog.

The serial number format is invalid, or is for a product that is not installed

EasyCatalog could not recognize the serial number as belonging to either EasyCatalog or any of the optional modules you have installed. Please re-check the serial number you have entered to ensure that you are entering it correctly.ย  If you are, ensure that the module you’re attempting to activate is shown on the “About EasyCatalog” dialog.ย  If not, please download and re-run the installer, ensuring you select all of the modules you have purchased during the installation process.
