EasyCatalog requires that the values in the field(s) you have defined as being ‘key’ fields are unique. This is to enable it to uniquely identify each record in your source data so that if, for example, a record changes position in the data it can still be found.
When loading data, EasyCatalog will check the contents of the key field columns to determine whether they contain unique values. If they don’t, you will see an error message: “A duplicate key was detected (xxx). Please check your data provider configuration and try again.“.ย The error message will contain the first duplicated value that EasyCatalog found.
Sometimes, the error message will be shown as “A duplicate key was detected (). Please check your data provider configuration and try again.“. In this instance, empty values have been found in the key field column(s). If you’re importing data that has been exported from an Excel spreadsheet as a CSV or tab-delimited file, try copying and pasting just the data from your spreadsheet into a new sheet and export that.ย Occasionally Excel will export empty rows and columns after the data, and creating a new sheet usually fixes this.ย Alternatively, try importing the spreadsheet directly using the File > New > EasyCatalog Panel > New Excel Data Source option.
