This problem is being caused by Vista’s permissions model, called UAC (http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/0d75f774-8514-4c9e-ac08-4c21f5c6c2d91033.mspx?mfr=true).
Navigate to the InDesign application (which is usually C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CSX) and follow the steps below:
- Right-click on the InDesign application icon.
- Click Properties, and then select the Compatibility tab.
- Under Privilege Level, select Run this program as an administrator, and then click OK.
Failing that, UAC may need to be disabled – the process for this is described in ‘Scenario 3’ on the above web-page.
